JCG Board Election – 2023 Candidate Statements
We hope you attend the membership meeting on Monday, October 9 at the Mendenhall Valley Library from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. We will be sharing information on voting for members to serve on the JCGA Board of Trustees. The candidates are listed below. This year’s election will take place electronically a week after the meeting. This is also a chance to hear about the garden’s year in review and future events.
John Thedinga
My name is John Thedinga and I’ve been a JCG member for nearly 20 years and the president of the board of directors for 14 years. I would like to continue to be a board member next year.
Cynthia Kreibehl
My name is Cynthia Krehbiel and I am interested in serving on the JCG Board. For the
past 9 years, I have enjoyed gardening at our Community Garden and have been the
Activities Coordinator the past 3 years. The position is mainly organizing events and
people to help them complete their service hour requirements.
In a nutshell, I am invested in helping Garden members and the garden thrive.

Joel Bos
My name is Joel Bos and I would like to be an official member of the board. I have
been in an advisory position for the last 5 years and a garden member since 2014. I
really enjoy working in the charity plots and on the compost project and hope to
continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Thank you for your consideration.

Pat McLear
I’m Pat McLear and I currently serve as the Juneau Community Garden Association Board Secretary. I have been a member of the JCG for the past 20+ years and am most grateful for the opportunity to garden in this communal space. I serve on the board in an effort to give back to the garden community and I am willing to continue to do so if elected to the board. Thank you for your consideration.
Alan Davis
I’m Alan Davis. I have been gardening at the Community Garden for over 25 years and have been on the board for 20 years, during which I have seen the organization grow and prosper. I am currently serving as Treasurer of the organization and would like to continue to be part of the board and see that it continues to serve the community and the needs of its members. I would appreciate your vote.
Delores O’Mara
My name is Delores O’Mara and I am interested in serving on the JCG board. I am a long term garden member and currently serve on the board as vice-president and website maven. My interests are learning to be a better gardener and creating food security, both for myself and other garden members. I want to help build community at the garden and help members be successful and enjoy their plots.
